Beauty makeup has many uses in both reality and special effects. Looks can range from extreme glam to a simplified everyday look.
My personal approach to beauty makeup is to enhance the beauty that is already there - no matter the look. I believe in a natural approach - giving all of your features special attention to ensure that you are feeling the God or Goddess you are, both inside and out.
Beauty makeup can be tailored to match your personal style or the type of event using different colors, mediums and application techniques.
Often in nature the most beautiful things are also the most deadly. There might be bright colors to grab your attention, fascinating patterns to dazzle and delight your eyes. Distracting and delighting your senses as the predator prepares for its attack!
Medusa is the perfect example of this deadly beauty. Once a handmaiden to the Goddess Athena, and known for her spectacular beauty - transformed into a monstrous Gorgon; her once beautiful hair replaced with snakes. Medusa wielded the power to turn creatures to stone with a single glance.
The brainchild of Shannon ODwyer and Katie Krause - Medusa came to life as part of The Gathering of Fates & Goddesses photoshoot that also featured characters from Hadestown. I always enjoy an opportunity to mix both beauty and the beast into one look, and this one allowed me to mix a custom shade of “snake scale green.” I love the inspiration that Shannon chose for her look and tweaking it to fit her vision.
Do you dare to wander into her lair… and peer into the Eyes of a Goddess?

Reveal the Facade
These photos are from a wonderful day featuring a bunch of models, makeup artists, hair designers, wardrobe artists, and photographers bringing to life a vision conceptualized by Colour Law.
The event was a dinner party with featuring some of your favorite fantastical creatures and occult characters. I was responsible for the Shaman Priestess you see featured solo, and the Werewolf Hybrid seen in the other shots. Both of these makeups were a challenge since they had to fit the realm of beauty while also fitting a certain classic fantasy character aesthetic. The werewolf was especially challenging because I was given the task of creating the look without adding hair to the actor’s face.
We got to work and shoot in the amazing unrenovated portion of the Pabst Brewery providing amazing spaces for this high profile event, the first of my career, which further fueled my passion for all things makeup.
